RAC Comrades Assistance
To run the Comrades Marathon should be on every South African runner’s bucket list.
The experience is beyond compare - it is a unique test of physical endurance and a “celebration of mankind’s spirit over adversity”. The event is one great big living, breathing display of camaraderie, selflessness, dedication, perseverance and Ubuntu.
The true beauty of Comrades can be seen on the start line. Runners from every background, of all abilities, of every shape, size, colour and gender all line up, side by side as EQUALS on the day. It does not matter where you come from or how you got there, the day ahead and the road beneath your feet is equally long for everyone.
But the truth is, getting to that start line is harder for some than others. There's the months of training, membership subs, the compulsory qualifying races, not to mention the Comrades entry fee, travel and accommodation.
Each year RAC raises funds to help less fortunate runners get to Comrades, and to help them realise their dreams.
RAC runners look after each other - nobody gets left behind.
If you would like to be a part of this beautiful South African tradition, please consider donating to our Comrades Assistance fund,
We would be extremely grateful, no matter how big or small your contribution.
